What is it about?

This initiative strengthens research security by addressing both opportunities and risks in international scientific cooperation within an increasingly complex global landscape.

It serves as a key interface between Austrian stakeholders and the European level, facilitating mutual exchange, coordination, and knowledge transfer on research security.

Goals & Key Activities

  • Increase awareness and promote risk consciousness in international science and research collaborations;
  • Take an active role in EU fora, ensure effective dissemination and adaptation of EU-level recommendations in Austria;
  • Support implementation of measures for risk assessment and management in Austrian universities, research organisations and companies performing research.

  • Austrian Federal Ministry of Women, Science and Research (BMFWF)
  • Austrian Federal Ministry of Innovation, Mobility and Infrastructure (BMIMI)
  • Higher education institutions, research performing organisations, research funding organisations, enterprises.

Expected Impact

  • Improved coordination, information-exchange, and capacity building;
  • Enhanced resilience and strengthened research security in Austrian universities, research organisations and enterprises;
  • Greater visibility of Austrian perspectives in shaping research security policy on the European level.
