What is it about?

  • Addressing new global challenges and opportunities in international cooperation in science, research and innovation;
  • Strategically positioning Austria within European and global research networks;
  • Bridging science, diplomacy, and policy for enhanced collaboration;
  • Strengthening values, principles, and secure frameworks for trusted partnerships.

Goals & Key Activities

  • Strengthen the international collaboration perspective in STI and advocate Austria´s position in the EU and beyond;
  • Promote shared values and fair, safe conditions in international cooperation;
  • Build up the Austrian Science Diplomacy Community and intensify policy-science dialogue;
  • Facilitate applied research collaboration with global partners (bilateral/multilateral projects, innovation networks).

Who is involved?

  • Austrian Ministries with responsibilities for science, research, innovation and international relations
    (BMFWF, BMIMI, BMWET, BMB, BMEIA etc.)
  • Austrian higher education institutions, research performing organisations, research funding organisations, enterprises
  • International partner countries and EU institutions.

Expected Impact

  • Stronger integration and influence for Austria in the European Research Area and beyond;
  • Increased innovation capacity and competitiveness in global markets;
  • Secure, open, and value-based international research environment;
  • More opportunities for the Austrian RTI-community to do research, exchange with and learn from partners worldwide.
