European Council
02INTRODUCTION
The European Council is the highest political body of the European Union. Assembling the Heads of State or Government of the EU member states, the President of the European Council and the President of the European Commission, it deals with major issues and defines the EU’s general political guidelines. This institution is chaired by the member state holding the Presidency. Meetings take place two to four times a year.
