Initiative 2.4. Strategic Energy Technology Plan
02INTRODUCTION

What is it about?
This initiative strengthens European coordination and cooperation in the field of clean energy technologies to accelerate the energy transition.
The SET Plan was established in 2007, and since the creation of the Energy Union in 2015, it became one of the main instruments of the Energy Union’s 5th pillar on research, innovation and competitiveness.
There are 15 Implementing Working Groups (IWGs), each focussing on one key technology, and 5 temporary task forces on crosscutting topics.
Goals & Key Activities
- Development of Common Implementation and Investment Plans (CIIPs);
- Development of recommendations on crosscutting topics and their implementation in the SET Plan.

Expected impact
Improved coordination and alignment of RTI and clean energy agendas across EU countries, implemented, inter alia, in European R&I initiatives (Clean Energy Transition (CETP) und Driving Urban Transition (DUT)) and nationally.
