New twinning learning programme launched under Cities Mission
A new round of the twinning learning programme has begun as part of the EU Mission for climate-neutral and smart cities. Over the next year, 22 twin cities will work closely with 18 Mission cities.
In the programme, each twin city is matched with a Mission city to speed up their progress towards climate neutrality. The initiative supports the Mission’s goal of turning these cities into testing grounds for new solutions and innovations that can guide other European cities on their way to climate neutrality by 2050.
This launch marks the start of more formal partnerships. The cooperation is meant to help advance the climate measures set out in each Mission city’s Climate City Contract and the priorities in their related action plans. Twin cities will benefit from the Mission cities’ practical experience, while Mission cities will gain fresh viewpoints and locally developed ideas that strengthen their own strategies.
