MSCA Doctoral Networks call receives 1,616 proposals
This year’s annual Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Doctoral Networks call has attracted considerable interest from the research community, with a total of 1,616 proposals submitted. The fifth call of the MSCA Doctoral Networks scheme closed on 25 November 2025.
Compared to the 1,616 proposals received this year, 1,417 proposals had been submitted in 2024, with 153 eventually selected for funding. This represents an increase of 14%, compared to the previous call for proposals. The European Research Executive Agency (REA) is expecting to fund over 150 projects, with an indicative budget of €597.8 million. The proposals submitted are from coordinators based in 36 countries. They include the participation of organisations in 92 third countries, among them the USA, Canada, Australia, Japan and South Africa.
The country with the largest number of proposals by coordinator is the United Kingdom (233), followed by Italy (187) and Spain (177). Austria is in 12th place with 40 submitted proposals.
