MSCA COFUND call receives 141 proposals
The sixth call under Horizon Europe of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions-funded COFUND scheme closed on 8 April 2026. Through the 2026 call, the European Union will fund around 30 projects with an indicative budget of €105.5 million.
The European Research Executive Agency (REA) received 141 proposals, a slight increase to the 136 proposals submitted in 2025, where 31 were eventually placed on the main list. The proposals received under the 2026 call cover organisations based in 24 countries. 62 proposals were for doctoral programmes, and 79 for postdoctoral programmes. Selected projects can include several partners from the EU and worldwide, which will recruit, employ and train researchers.
The largest share of proposals is accounted for by France (30), followed by Spain (22) and Germany, Finland and the UK (9 each). 7 proposals come from organisations based in Austria.
The European Commission will also award Seal of Excellence certificates to applicants who applied to the MSCA COFUND call in 2026 but whose proposals cannot be funded due to budgetary constraints.
The submitted proposals will now be evaluated by REA and external experts. Applicants will be informed about the evaluation results by end of September 2026.
