MSCA Choose Europe for Science pilot receives 58 proposals
The 2025 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) Choose Europe for Science call closed on 3 December 2025. The European Research Executive Agency (REA) received 58 proposals from institutions across 18 countries. 49 of these proposals (85%) were considered eligible.
The largest number of submitted proposals are from Spain (9), followed by France (7) and Portugal (5). Three proposals come from Austrian organisations.
The Choose Europe for Science pilot call aims to test a new model in MSCA. Host organisations will receive EU funding to employ postdoctoral researchers whilst committing to hiring them beyond the EU-funded phase of the project. The aim is to provide concrete long-term prospects following the project, ensuring more stable career pathways. Besides this, the scheme will spread MSCA best practices for high-quality recruitment, training and working conditions across participating institutions.
The EC's Research Executive Agency (REA) will conclude the evaluation of the proposals by independent experts in Aptil 2026 and expects to be able to notify applicants of the calls results by early May 2026, with the first projects due to start in September 2026. The first positions funded under this call are expected to be published on EURAXESS from September 2026 to early 2027. Researchers will then be able to apply directly to participating institutions and access practical information on the opportunities provided.
