Romania holds Enhanced dialogue with European Commission
Romania hosted an Enhanced Dialogue with the European Commission in Bucharest on 6–7 October, bringing together national authorities and a Commission delegation led by Marc Lemaître, Director-General for Research and Innovation.
Hosted by University POLITEHNICA of Bucharest, discussions focused on boosting innovation and competitiveness, advancing research and innovation reforms, and preparing for the next EU budget, European Competitiveness Fund and research framework programme.
The Commission stressed that investment in research infrastructure requires a clear long-term strategy and sustainable funding. It encouraged stronger Romanian participation in European infrastructures and partnerships, supported by a national roadmap aligned with European priorities and multiannual financing.
Participants visited the Măgurele Atmosphere and Radiation Site, the Extreme Light Infrastructure – Nuclear Physics facility and POLITEHNICA’s NuScale small modular reactor simulator, highlighting Romania’s role in hosting major research facilities.
The delegation also attended the How to Web conference, met Romania’s start-up community at ROStartup and held further discussions with national research authorities.
