MSCA awards €97.9 million for international research cooperation projects

The European Commission has announced the results of the 2026 Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) call for Staff Exchanges. Under this call, the Commission will allocate €97.9 million for a total of 84 projects, promoting cooperation between academic and non-academic organisations in the EU and around the globe, boosting innovation and knowledge transfer.

The European Research Executive Agency (REA) received 416 applications for this call for project proposals, of which 399 were eligible and were evaluated. 84 projects were selected. This result corresponds to a 21.05% success rate. Selected projects span all scientific disciplines and research areas, with the largest share accounted for by engineering and ICT (26.19%), followed by social sciences and humanities (16.67%), life sciences (15.48%), chemistry (14.29%) and environment and geosciences (14.29%).

These collaborative projects are implemented by international partnerships, covering 861 organisations in 135 countries in the EU, countries associated to Horizon Europe and beyond, including 310 non-academic organisations and 135 small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Selected projects are coordinated by organisations in 17 countries. Countries with the largest numbers of coordinators are Spain (21), followed by Italy (15) and the United Kingdom (12). Austria has 3 coordinators.
