Eurostat publishes 2026 Regional Yearbook
Eurostat, the European statistics office, presented the 2026 edition of the Eurostat Regional Yearbook on 23 September 2026. The Regional Yearbook has been published annually for 55 years. The current edition covers regional data for the 27 EU Member States, 9 candidate and 4 EFTA countries, on people and society, economy and business, and environment and natural resources. The Eurostat Regional Yearbook features interactive maps, which users can zoom in on to get in-depth information on the region they are most interested in.
Under the economy and business heading, there is a dedicated chapter on research and development at regional level. It provides information and statistics for example on R&D expenditure patterns, in terms of R&D intensity, R&D expenditure per inhabitant and R&D intensity by sector of performance, R&D personnel and researchers, as well as human resources in science and technology (HRST).
