EC launches call for evidence or future EIT Regulation and Strategic Innovation Agenda (2028-2034)
The Commission has launched a call for evidence to support the revision of both the Regulation governing the EIT and the EIT Strategic Innovation Agenda. The call was launched on 12 August 2026 and will be open until 23 September 2026. The consultation aims to gather insights from various stakeholders, including public authorities, businesses, academia and research organisations, before the Commission prepares its final proposal.
The new EIT Regulation is expected to be adopted in December 2026 and aims to enhance the EIT’s ability to support Europe’s competitiveness and address evolving priorities. The Regulation is set to ensure reduced complexity, enhanced governance and oversight and will also continue to support regional innovation capacity across Europe.
The Commission is inviting stakeholders to provide feedback on the following key areas:
- how the EIT and its Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) can better strengthen Europe’s competitiveness and innovation ecosystems;
- how they can enhance Europe’s attractiveness to talent, innovators and entrepreneurs;
- how they can strengthen collaboration with other EU innovation instruments and programmes under the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF); and
- what changes to the funding and implementation model could improve flexibility, governance, simplicity and impact.
Interested organisations and stakeholders are strongly encouraged to participate by sharing their views through the Have Your Say portal by 23 September 2026.
