EC extends deadline for receipt of tenders for Medium-Scale AI Gigafactories
The European Commission has announced that the deadline for receipt of tenders for Medium-Scale AI Gigafactories has been moved from 12 November 2026 to 4 February 2027. The EC website provides the following information:
In order to give Member States the necessary time to complete their national budgetary procedures and submit financial commitments for Medium-Scale AI Gigafactories (LOT 1), the Contracting Authority has decided to extend the deadline for the receipt of tenders under the Call for Tenders for the selection of Artificial Intelligence Gigafactory Consortia interested in submitting proposals for the establishment of Medium-Scale AI Gigafactories under this Lot.
The new deadline for receipt of tenders for Lot 1 is 04/02/ 2027 17:00 Europe/Luxembourg.
The deadline for receipt of tenders for the Call to Selection of Artificial Intelligence Gigafactory Consortia for the establishment of Large-Scale AI Gigafactories (Lot 2) is unchanged.
The deadline for receipt of tenders for Lot 2 remains 03/12/2026 17:00 Europe/Luxembourg.
This change will be reflected in the Funding & Tenders Portal shortly.
The EC intends to fund three large-scale and four medium-scale AI Gigafactories. The call for tenders was opened on 30 July 2026.
