Event description:

The SET-Plan Conference is the annual policy conference mapping out and monitoring Europe’s way forward towards sustainability in the production and use of energy. Both energy technologies and energy policy are discussed, and progress made in both fields is mapped. Austria, as the host country of 2018, will endeavour to highlight the importance and success of energy innovation, and the role of research and industry in making it happen. In addition, the conference aims at making European policy-making transparent and accessible to European and Austrian citizens, by explaining the decision-making processes and providing case-studies which show how energy-innovation can change our everyday lives.

Event outcome:

The 11th edition of the SET-Plan conference took stock of progress towards the SET Plan priorities and identified how Research and Innovation, at European and national level, publicly and privately funded, contribute to the EU's energy transition. The plenary discussions addressed the challenges on the way towards the objectives for 2030 and 2050, the financing instruments to support R&I, the EU's position in the world, but also referred to the importance of engaging cities and regions.
