01DESCRIPTION

The Industrial Transformation Unit (E3) is part of the ‘Prosperity’ Directorate. The Directorate aims to create prosperity and jobs across Europe within the means of our planet. That requires policy action for value creation from research and innovation and the acceleration of the green and digital transformation of industry, strengthening its resilience and its base in Europe.

A dynamic and challenging position as a seconded expert contributing to several actions implementing the Advanced Materials Communication as well as to the preparation of the Advanced Materials Act, within a unit offering high expertise and excellent team spirit.

The focus will be on the implementation of the actions announced under the Commission Communication “Advanced Materials for Industry Leadership”. The overall governance of the implementation is in the hands of the Technology Council for Advanced Materials.

The jobholder will contribute to different studies announced under the Communication, notably on technology infrastructures (the so-called open innovation test beds), patentability of innovations related to advanced materials, substitution of critical raw materials by research in advanced materials (jointly with the Joint Research Centre), and the production and use of advanced materials (jointly with DG GROW). The jobholder will also liaise with the team dealing with advanced manufacturing to ensure close links.

The jobholder will contribute to background analysis on the needs for an Advanced Materials Act, including the upcoming impact assessment for such an Act.

The jobholder will prepare policy documents, briefings, concept notes and make contributions to future work programmes (namely Cluster Digital, Industry and Space under Horizon Europe).
