The Guild and LERU publish open letter in support of ambitious FP10

The Guild and LERU have presented an open letter in support of an ambitious next Framework Programme for R&I. The authors criticise that the Competitiveness Compass falls short of developing a vision that would articulate a groundbreaking R&I policy, as the essential foundation of an effective competitiveness policy. The two associations argue that the Compass would fail its objectives if it does not nurture the foundations of Europe’s competitiveness, its scientific excellence. To harness the unique capability of the EU framework programme for R&I , the European Commission must increase its investment in the entire research and innovation continuum leading to increased competitiveness and societal advancement, through an ambitious Framework Programme with a substantially increased and ring-fenced budget, The Guild and LERU say.
The letter is addressed to President Ursula von der Leyen, President Roberta Metsola and President Antonio Costa as well as to Poland's Prime Minister Donald Tusk. The auhtors are now inviting Europe's university leaders to support them.
