Polish Council Presidency briefs ITRE Committee on its Presidency priorities

Polish Ministers are currently holding a series of meetings in committees of the European Parliament (EP) to present the priorities of the Polish Presidency of the Council.
On 29 January, Mr Krzysztof Paszyk, Minister of Economic Development and Technology, presented the Presidency's priorities related to industry, SMEs and space and held an exchange of views with ITRE members on these policy areas. On the same day, Mr Dariusz Standerski, Secretary of State in the Ministry of Digital Affairs, presented the priorities on ICT, digital, cybersecurity and innovation. On 30 January, Mr Marcin Kulasek, Minister of Science and Higher Education, presented the priorities related to research and innovation.
On 29 January 2025, Minister of Economics, Development and Technology, Krzysztof Paszyk spoke before the Industry, Research and Energy (ITRE) Committee, saying that the Presidency’s priorities include boosting Europe's industrial competitiveness with a new instrument and advancing the Clean Industry Act to support businesses, address high energy prices, and cut red tape and tax burdens for SMEs. The Polish Presidency is also planning to maximise the use of spaceimaging and AI algorithms for crisis management, and improve cooperation during natural disasters.
During the debate, MEPs stressed the need to support innovative businesses through a unified capital market, and to combine environmental policies with industrial policies to achieve the ecological transition. Others focused on the importance of transatlantic relations and the need to secure European tech sovereignty.
