Austrian Action Plan Public Procurement Promoting Innovation

01DESCRIPTION

Demand-side innovation policy instruments in general as well as public procurement promoting innovation (PPPI) in particular are increasingly receiving attention on national and international/European levels. They serve as a complement to the well established supply-side instruments. As part of these developments, the Austrian government started a „PPPI strategy process“ right after the publication of the „Austrian Strategy for  research, Technology and Innovation“ in March 2011. It was decided that the Ministry of Economy, Family and Youth (BMWFJ) and the Ministry of  Transport, Innovation and Technology (BMVIT) should cooperatively lead this strategy process and take responsibility for the formulation of an „Austrian Action Plan on Public Procurement Promoting Innovation“. This PPPI action plan, which benefits from several preceding studies and  working groups and extensive stakeholder participation, is presented within this policy document in its finalized version.
