JRC publishes 2023 Highlights Report
The European Commission's Joint Research Centre (JRC) has published its 2023 Highlights Report, demonstrating some of the ways in which the work of the JRC has had a positive impact on society – from supporting EU policymaking with independent and reliable scientific research, to supporting Member State capacities and fostering international cooperation.
The report was released on 16 April 2024 and focuses on 11 examples. While these examples do not represent the JRC’s work in its entirety, they give a picture of its breadth and relevance. The 11 examples from the 2023 Highlights Report cover the following topics:

- Keeping the power on, avoiding energy flow disruptions
- Creating a level playing field for the European digital market
- Shaping the future we want, with science
- Partnering on science for global impact
- Fostering nuclear innovation for tomorrow’s society
- Proactively managing disasters via Earth observation
- Monitoring, measuring and advising for climate action
- Protecting honey producers and consumers
- Monitoring Europe’s ecosystems, protecting biodiversity
- Addressing disinformation in the digital age
