Lisbon Post-2010 EC Issues Paper

Reflecting the Lisbon Strategy for growth and jobs beyond 2010 in the framework of the implementation of the European Economic Recovery Plan, the  European Commission drafted an Issues Paper for the National Lisbon Coordinators' Meeting in Prague on 22 April 2009. In this paper, the Commission states that the four priority areas (investing in people; unlocking the business potential;  R&D&innovation and ICT; energy/climate change) of the Lisbon Strategy remain highly relevant. Making the Lisbon Strategy part of the EU's exit strategy from the current crisis, the Commission suggests, however, that additional emphasis be placed on financial sustainability and the quality of public expenditure.
