EC adopts 2018 General Report on Activities of the EU
On 18 February 2018, the European Commission (EC) adopted the 2018 edition of the General Report on the activities of the European Union. Publishing this annual report is a legal obligation of the EC under Article 249(2) of the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union. The report shows how the EU is delivering on its commitments. This year's report highlights issues such as the development of employment figures; the funds deployed through the Juncker Investment Plan for Europe; the EU's Digital Single Market Strategy with new initiatives such as supercomputing, e-health, disinformation, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and blockchain, and personal data protection; the fight against climate change, including the EC's long-term vision for a climate-neutral Europe by 2050; foreign trade agreements; and migration-related issues. The report will be available from 13 March 2019 as a fully illustrated book and in an interactive online version.
