LERU concerned about role of experts in shaping Horizon Europe
Laura Keustermans, Senior Policy Officer of the League of European Research Universities (LERU) has expressed concern regarding the plans of the European Commission to change the role of expert groups in shaping the EU’s next R&D programme. In an article published by Research Europe, she states that LERU is "in favour of co-creation as long as it is done on a scientifically solid basis”, emphasising the important role of experts on advisory boards. LERU is worried that the strategic programming provided for Horizon Europe "does not guarantee that a consensus from relevant experts will be sought or that the experts providing advice are also thinking of the bigger picture and not only of their own direct (research) interests."
