EUA issues recommendations on investment in R&I in next MFF
On 8 March 2018, the European University Association (EUA) issued a paper with recommendations on where the EU should invest in R&I and higher education in the post-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) and related funding programmes
EUA calls for increasing EU investment in research, innovation and higher education post-2020 so as to be able to address the challenges Europe is facing, and ensure sustainable development. Research and education are key facilitators to achieve these goals and should therefore be a top investment priority of the Union for the future, EUA states. According to EUA, the following should be guiding principles for the next MFF: European value and additionality; stability and predictability; sustainability; synergies and simplification; openness. On the basis of these principles, the MFF should:
Boost investment in research and innovation to meet political ambitions
Use cohesion funds efficiently and effectively to close the innovation gap
Invest in higher education exchange and cooperation to support reforms, stimulate innovation, enhance quality and foster inclusion
