High Level Group of Innovators presents key recommendations on European Innovation Council
On 24 January 2018, the independent High-Level Group of Innovators , chaired by Hermann Hauser (Entrepreneur and Co-founder of Amadeus Capital Partners), published a report entitled "Europe is back: Accelerating breakthrough innovation", outlining their views on how a European Innovation Council (EIC) should fund and nurture breakthrough innovation from start-up to scale-up. More flexible financing was recommended, such as awarding grants, loans and equity investments in combination, therefore adapting to the needs of the innovator. Further developing partnerships and networks and the leveraging of European ecosystems was recommended, to boost the scaling-up of innovative companies.
Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation, Carlos Moedas, has shown his support for the Group's advice by presenting the report to French President Emmanuel Macron at the World Economic Forum in Davos.
