Collège of Commissioners holds orientation debate and launches consultations on next MFF
At its first meeting in 2018, on 10 January, the Collège of EU Commissioners discussed the EC's priorities for 2018, and held its first orientation debate on the next Multiannual Financial Framework, the EU budget after 2020. The Commissioners backed the proposals Commissioner Oettinger had made at a conference on the MFF on 8 January 2018, including his call to exclude the EU’s research&innovation and Erasmus programmes from cuts and increasing their budget.
The Commission also launched a series of public consultations on the priorities of the EU that should be reflected in the next Multiannual Financial Framework. These include a "Public consultation on EU funds in the area of investment, research & innovation, SMEs and single market". Citizens can submit their contributions until 8 March 2018.
