EP and Council formally approve EU 2018 budget
The European Parliament and the Council have today formally approved the EU budget for 2018, with commitment appropriations for 2018 totalling €160.1 billion (an increase of 0.2% compared to the 2017 EU budget as amended over the past months), and payment appropriations €144.7 billion (an increase of 14.1% compared to 2017). In this context, the budget for Horizon 2020 has been increased by €110 million compared to the original budget proposal by the European Commission. This corresponds to an increase of 8.4% compared to 2017. The thematic priorities of the EU 2018 budget are to tackle migration and security, and to boost innovation, growth and employment in Europe.
