EUA comments on EC Work Programme for 2018
The European University Association (EUA) has published a response to the European Commission's Work Programme für 2018. The response was published on 27 October 2017. The EUA is critical of the fact that the Work Programme does not include visible efforts to further develop the European Research Area (ERA), which the association regards as a particularly important factor for creation sustainable growth and jobs in the EU.
In addition to comments on the importance of education and training in the Work Programme and the important role of European Higher Education Area, the EUA - with regard to research - also supports other proposals such as the Commission’s ambitions to foster free movement of talent through instruments such as the blue-card, an adequate EU budget for research, and the finalisation of the negotiations on the next Multiannual Financial Framework (MFF) within the mandate of the current Commission and Parliament (2019), as this would allow FP9 and the future Erasmus programme to be up operational as of 2021.
