EC re-appoints Jean-Pierre Bourguignon as ERC President
The European Commission (EC) has re-appointed Professor Jean-Pierre Bourguignon as President of the European Research Council (ERC). After nearly four years in this role, his mandate will be extended for two years until the end of 2019.
When announcing this decision on 14 September 2017, Carlos Moedas, European Commissioner for Research, Science and Innovation said: "I'm delighted that the European Commission has reappointed Professor Jean-Pierre Bourguignon as European Research Council President. He has been vital for the continued success of the ERC. I am confident that he, together with the ERC Scientific Council, will further advance excellent EU-funded frontier research. I look forward to our continued close cooperation."
