Switzerland once again full member of AAL and Eurostars-2 programmes

On 23 August 2017, the Federal Council of Switzerland approved the agreements on Switzerland’s participation in the Eurostars-2 and the Active and Assisted Living research and development programmes, which are both co-funded under Horizon 2020. This means that Switzerland is once again a full member of both programmes and is co-financed by the EU. With the approval of the agreements followed on Switzerland's renewed association to Horizon 2020. Switzerland is this entitled to participate as a full member in both programmes, with retroactive effect as of 1 January 2017.

Switzerland had regained partial access to Horizon 2020 as of January 2017, following the ratification of the Protocol on the extension to Croatia of the Free Movement of Persons Agreement between the EU and Switzerland, by the Swiss Federal Council in December 2016. The EU had made ratification of this Protocol a condition for Switzerland's access to Horizon 2020.
