EC publishes recent Horizon 2020 call and evaluation results

The European Commission (EC) has published several recent call and evaluation results for Horizon 2020 on its Participant Portal:

European Research Infrastructures under the "Excellent Science" pillar of Horizon 2020:

  • The single-stage call "Development and long-term sustainability of new pan-European research infrastructures" for RIAs (research and innovation actions) closed on 29 March 2017. It received 39 proposals, of which 30 were above threshold, requesting a total budget of approx. € 86 million. The total budget available for this call is 20 million.
  • The single-stage call "Fostering the innovation potential of Research Infrastructures" for RIAs closed on 29 March 2017. It received a total of 8 proposals, of which 4 were above threshold, requesting a total budget of around € 80 million. The total budget available for this call is € 20 million.
  • The second-stage call for "Integrating and opening research infrastructures of European interest" for RIAs closed on 29 March 2017. 33 proposals were submitted to this call, of which 31 were above threshold, with a total budget of around € 154 million. The total budget available for this call is € 50 million.
  • The single-stage call for "Support to policy and international cooperation" for RIAs closed on 29 March 2017. It received a total of six proposals, of which three were above threshold, requesting a total budget of about € 6.5 million. The total budget available for this call is € 5 million.

The EC has already informed the applicants about the evaluation results for their proposals and expects the first grant agreements to be signed in November 2017. 

Work Programme part Secure Societies under the "Societal Challenges" pillar of Horizon 2020:

  • The "Critical Infrastructure Protection" call which closed on 24 August 2017, received a total of 25 proposals have been submitted in response to this call (indicative budget of 20 M€).
  • The "Digital Security Focus Area" call which closed on 24 August 2017, received a total of 160 proposals.
  • The "Security" call which closed on 24 August 2017 received a total of 131 proposals for 12 different topics.

The evaluation of the proposals from these calls will start by mid-September and will be closed by the end of the year. The EC will inform applicants on the outcome of the evaluations in mid-January 2018.
