Shift2Rail awards grants worth €110.9 million under 2017 call
On 14 June 2017 the Joint Udertaking Shift2Rail (S2R) announced the finalisation of the evaluation procedure of its 2017 call for proposals. 17 grants will be awarded for a total value of the actions of €110.9 million, co-financed by S2R up to €60.1 million.The level of response to the call for proposals, which closed on 30 March 2017, was record high. The 27 S2R JU Members, other than the European Union, submitted project proposals to all 7 call topics, for a total actions’ value of €91.4million which will be co-funded by S2R up to €40.6million.
Shift2Rail is the first European rail Public Private Partnership tasked with developing strategically focused research and innovation (R&I) and market-driven solutions, and with integrating these to create the railway system of the future. With a total value of € 920million for the period 2014-2020, Shift2Rail is promoting the competitiveness of the European rail industry and ensuring the attractiveness of rail as a safe and sustainable low carbon transport mode.
