RIO country reports 2016 available
On 12 May 2017, the 2016 series of the RIO country reports was published under the country analysis section of the RIO – H2020 PSF website.
The RIO (Research and Innovation Observatory of the European Commission's Joint Research Centre) Country Reports are published annually and offer an analysis of the R&I system of the respective country, including relevant policies and funding, with a particular focus on topics critical for EU policies. The reports also identify the main challenges of the respective national research and innovation system and assess the policy response.
According to the report, the highlights of 2016 were e.g. an increasing R&D intensity further to 3.07% of GDP in 2015, and public funding for both universities and private R&D increased significantly in 2015 and 2016. The main challenges the Country Report has identified for Austria are to streamline the support policy mix for private R&I, to increase funding of excellent basic research, and to further increase the supply of equity capital for start-ups and scale-ups.TOP
