Austria appoints new Permanent Representative to the EU

Today, the Austrian Government has appointed Mr Nikolaus Marschik as Austria's new Permanent Representative to the EU in Brussels. After having worked as Head of Cabinet for the Austrian Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs, Sebastian Kurz, Mr. Marschik had been Austrian Ambassador at the Austrian diplomatic representation in Berlin since 2015. The appointment is particularly significant in view of Austria's upcoming EU Council Presidency during the second half of 2018.
