Maltese Presidency focuses on PRIMA and streamlining of R&I monitoring
On 1 January 2017, Malta took over the Presidency of the Council of the EU from Slovakia. The Work Programme of the Maltese Presidency in the area of Research and Innovation will focus on 2 issues:
- PRIMA – Partnership for Research and Innovation in the Mediterranean Area
PRIMA aims to enhance the scientific knowledge base and the innovation potential for food security and water availability. Malta is committed towards steering forward the deliberations on this Article 185 initiative.
- Streamlining the Research and Innovation Monitoring and Reporting Landscape
The Maltese Presidency would like to address the reporting obligations in the area of research and innovation. The objective is to present a set of Council conclusions focusing on redressing the monitoring and administrative burdens of reporting through streamlining.
Council Competiveness meetings are envisaged for 21 February and 30 May 2017. The informal meeting of ministers responsible for research
will take place in Malta on 3 May 2017.
