Science Europe publishes contribution to Horizon 2020 Interim Evaluation

Entitled "The Framework Programme that Europe Needs - Lessons Learnt and the Way Forward" Science Europe has provided a statement position contributing to the Horizon 2020 Interim Evaluation. Science Europe calls for a strong European co-operation in research and innovation that stands aside from political turmoil, so that Europe’s knowledge base can continue contributing to the well-being of society and the competitiveness of Europe in the world. With its paper, Science Europe wants to emphasise that European research co-operation should be an arena where excellence is a path for all to follow, and where boundaries and barriers do not hamper the quest for knowledge and the creation of long-term cultural, social, environmental and economic value for society

The position statement  focuses on seven main messages. According to Science Europe the Framework Programme should

  1. have a clear focused on excellence
  2. have a clear added value
  3. link excellent research with innovation and benefits society
  4. be driven by a strategic approach to international co-operation
  5. Integrate Open Science
  6. have a sufficient budget to realise its ambitions
  7. be clear, simple and transparent in its implementation
