ERAC starts preparations for an opinion on the European Innovation Council
On 6 June 2016 ERAC (European Research and Innovation Committee) held a workshop to start preparations for an opinion on the European Innovation Council (EIC). The ERAC opinion will contribute to the discussion on the EIC at the informal meeting of Research Ministers under the Slovak Presidency in July 2016.
After having received more than one thousand responses to its online consultation, the European Commission is planning to finalise a document on the results of the consultation until the end of June. According to the Commission, the 3 main outcomes from the consultation are that an EIC could fill in gaps in current innovation support, bring togehter and simplify acces to current EU innovation support, and provide strategic advice to imporove the innovation environment.
In February 2016, the European Commission launched a call for ideas for an European Innovation Council aiming at solving Europe's problem of lagging behind in disruptive innovation.TOP
