Science Europe publishes Statement on European Support for Research-based Innovation

On 29 April 2016, Science Europe published an input statement to the European debate on how to best support the innovation potential of the European society and economy.

Science Europe President Michael Matlosz supports an approach to innovation that lives up to Europe’s ambitions and aims to create and sustain a research-based ecosystem, capable of delivering radical innovation. He underlines that this must be built on a correct understanding of the role of research in a successful culture of innovation.

According to the statement, research-based innovation can happen when the innovation ecosystem is able to rely on a circular process of interactions between scientific breakthroughs and new ideas about putting them to use for society.
