European administrators discuss EU Urban Agenda
On Friday 22 April 2016, Dutch Minister of the Interior Ronald Plasterk addressed the annual meeting of the European Association of State Territorial Representatives in Den Bosch, on behalf of the current Dutch Council Presidency. In addition to discussing the migration crisis, the meeting also discussed the EU's Urban Agenda. Mr. Plasterk stressed that since urban centres are set to go on growing, it is crucial that authorities in Europe work together to ensure that urban growth is sustainable, while preserving economic growth and the health and wellbeing of urban populations. The Dutch Council Presidency aims to adopt the Amsterdam Declaration, or ‘Pact of Amsterdam’, at an informal ministerial meeting on the EU Urban Agenda on 30 May 2016. This will launch the action phase of the EU Urban Agenda.
