EC to invest € 73 million in 50 innovative companies under SME Instrument
Fifty small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) from 14 countries have been selected in the latest round of Horizon2020 SME Instrument Phase 2. Each of the 47 projects will receive up to € 2.5 million (€ 5 million for health projects) to bring their product from pilot-phase to the market. Most projects are in the field of ICT, transport, energy efficiency and sustainable food production.
Spanish SMEs are the most successful with 14 chosen enterprises, followed by SMEs based in Germany (8 beneficiaries) and France (6 elected companies). The total project costs amount to € 73 million.
This funding allows companies to invest in innovation activities such as demonstration, testing, piloting, scaling up and miniaturisation, in addition to developing a mature business plan for their product. The enterprises will also benefit from 12 days of business coaching.
The next cut-off for SME Instrument Phase 2 is 14 April 2016.
