EUA highlights its latest Open Access initiatives

The European University Association (EUA) actively supports the transition towards Open Science, and, in particular, Open Access to research publications. The EUA has taken several initiatives to this effect, which include for instance supporting the Max Planck Digital Library (MPDL) in its Expression of Interest  in the “Large-scale implementation of Open Access to Scholarly Journals”; participating in the Workshop of the Netherlands Organisation for Scientific Research (NWO) “Removing Barriers: A Global Implementation Plan for Open Access Scholarly Publishing”, the outcomes of which are due to be presented at the Dutch Presidency Open Science conference, which is currently taking place in Amsterdam; and publishing the “EUA Open Access Roadmap for Research Publications” earlier this year, outlining the main focus areas of EUA’s work in Open Science, including Open Access, copyright, data protection, text and data mining and new models of evaluation and quality assessment.
