Austria Science Board’s new presidium members meet Science Minister
The new presidium members of the Austria Science Board (Wissenschaftsrat) have met for an introductory visit with Austrian Minister of Science, Research and Economy, Mr. Reinhold Mitterlehner. The new presidium, members Antonio Loprieno (Chair), Gabriele Kucsko-Stadlmayer (Vice-Chair) and Rainer Blatt (Vice-Chair) started their term of office on 15 January 2016. Minister Mitterlehner highlighted the role of the Board as an advisory body for decision-makers in politics and science in further developing Austria as a location for science and innovation.
The Austria Science Board provides advice for the Minister of Science, the universities, the National Council and the regional parliaments on matters relating to the universities as well as general issues of science policy and of the arts. Taking into consideration European and international developments, the Board provides analyses and recommendations regarding the Austrian university and science system and its further development.
