ERA-NET ERA4CS pre-announces transnational call on Climate Services Development
The ERA-NET “European Research Area for Climate Services - ERA4CS” has published a pre-announcement of a call aiming at filling the research gaps between the user communities and climate science. The call will emphasise the need for a “translation layer” along the Climate Service chain, ensuring effective and efficient two-way connections between user needs related to climate information on the one hand, and climate knowledge development and operational (model) products on the other hand.
The ERA-NET “ERA4CS” has been designed to boost the development of efficient Climate Services in Europe, by supporting research for developing better tools, methods and standards on how to produce, transfer, communicate and use reliable climate information to cope with current and future climate variability.
First activities start in 2016 with the launch of a large scale Joint Transnational Call for research proposals with cash and institutional funding from at least 16 countries and co-fund support of the European Commission.
