EC receives over 150 nominations for Scientific Advice Mechanism
In his speech at the "Science meets Parliament" event in Brussels, Commissioner Moedas informed the audience that over 150 names have been put forward via an open consultation for the Scientific Advice Mechanism. Responses included nominations from many prestigious scientific organisations.
Before the summer, the European Commission had appointed an Identification Committee to help find the best members for the new Scientific Advice Mechanism. An open consultation for nominations had been running for the last two months and was closed a few days ago. The Identification Committee will now consider these nominations and propose members to Commissioner Moedas by the end of October. The group will be launched and have its first meeting before the end of the year.
