ERC announces budget and grant competitions for 2016

The ERC Work Programme for 2016 was established by the ERC Scientific Council and approved by the European Commission in late July 2015. The programme foresees €1.67 billion for ERC grants for 2016.

The ERC has also launched its new series of competitions, the first one being the current call for Starting Grants 2016, with a budget of €485 million and deadline of 17 November 2015. This scheme is open to researchers with 2 to 7 years of experience since completion of PhD and a promising scientific track record.

The Work Programme schedules further grant competitions, opening the call for Consolidator Grants on 15 October 2015 (deadline 2 February 2016), and the call for Advanced Grants on 24 May 2016 (deadline 1 September 2016). In addition, there will be three rounds for the "Proof of Concept" grants call for ERC grant holders in 2016.
