Call for nominations for SAM High-Level Group has been launched
The European Commission has published a Call for nominations for the High-level Group of the Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM) which is due to be installed in autumn 2015.
As announced by President Juncker in May 2015, the European Commission intends to set up a new Scientific Advice Mechanism, in order to support the Commission with high quality, timely and independent scientific advice for its policy-making activities. For this purpose, the Commission has set up an independent Identification Committee which has launched a consultation to identify possible candidates for the SAM High-Level Group membership, starting with the main organisations representing the various segments of the research and scientific policy community at European level.
The methodology that the Identification Committee will follow is set out in the "statement of methodology" which includes the list of organisations consulted and a description of the criteria to be used for candidate selection. Other groups representing European research are also invited to submit nominations for candidates.
All nominations should be made using the "statement of the qualifications of the candidates" and should be submitted by 10 September 2015 by e-mail. The Identification Committee states that self-nominations will not be considered.
