Three European innovators receive EIT Awards at InnovEIT
On 6 May 2015, the EIT Awards were handed out to distinguished European innovators at the InnovEIT forum, the innovation conference of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT) in Budapest.
The EIT Venture Award is granted to successful entrepreneurial start-ups developing some of Europe’s most promising innovations. This year's EIT Venture Award was given to Nordic Power Converters (co-founder Regnar Paaske) of Denmark for its imaginative redesign of power converters.
The EIT CHANGE Award is designed for celebrating change leaders who spur innovation and entrepreneurship The 2015 EIT CHANGE Award went to Govinda Upadhyay for his design of a simple and affordable DIY solar LED lamp that can be made with easily available components anywhere in the world.
EOLOS Floating LIDAR Solutions (CEO Rajai Aghabi) received the EIT Innovators Award for breaking new ground in the field of affordable wind energy.
Peter Olesen, Chairman of the EIT Governing Board, said that “the EIT Awards promote innovation and encourage entrepreneurship. By putting the most innovative ventures, entrepreneurial graduates and innovation teams in the spotlight, they create role models that can inspire future change”.
