MEPs discuss Energy Union
The European Parliament discussed the outcome of last week's European Council meeting with Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, and Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission, at its plenary session on 25 March 2015. The debate focussed on the Energy Union and on how to boost the economy.
With regard to the Energy Union, amongst other issues, MEPs advocated more investments by the member states in the Energy Union during the debate, indicating the fact that the EU used to be a pioneer in new energy technologies, renewable energies and energy efficiency, but was now being overtaken by other parts of the world. Implementing the Energy Union properly could contribute to bringing innovation in the industrial sectors, while at the same time reducing dependence on energy supplies from other countries.
