Eurostars supports 12 projects with Austrian SME participation

Twelve research projects with participation by Austrian SMEs receive a total of € 3.4 million from the transnational Eurostars funding programme under its recent call. This was announced by the Austrian Federal Minister for Science, Research and Economy, Mr. Reinhold Mitterlehner, on 8 February 2015. The minister added that this was the best result for Austria that had been achieved in an individual Eurostars call. The overall project volume, including the international partners, amounts to € 21 million. A total of 89 projects are funded. For the first time the best-ranking project - ComAlert - has an Austrian consortium leader.

Eurostars is a transnational joint initiative of the EUREKA research initiative and the European Commission, with 34 participating countries. Its focus is on research-intensive SMEs as project coordinators. Large enterprises and research institutions can participate as project partners. At national level, the Austrian Research Promotion Agency manages the Eurostars programme, commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Science, Research and Economy.
