ECOFIN discusses Investment Plan for Europe
On Monday, 27 January 2015, the Investment Plan for Europe was on the agenda of ECOFIN, the EU Economic and Financial Affairs Council, amongst other issues. The Council discussed the Commission's legislative proposal to establish a European Fund for Strategic Investments (EFSI), which is expected to mobilise more than €300bn in private and public investment. The Latvian EU Council Presidency confirmed plans to reach an agreement on the EFSI in March 2015, so as to allow for new investments as early as mid-2015.
