Commissioner-designate Moedas completes European Parliament hearing
Carlos Moedas, Commissioner-designate for Research, Science and Innovation, set his priorities at his European Parliament hearing on 30 September 2014. In his introduction, he pointed out achievements of the European Union and referred to a personal experience as having been one of the first Portuguese Erasmus grantees.
During his mandate he will focus on the completion of the European Research Area. He aims at removing barriers and establishing framework conditions to leverage the potential of European research, science and innovation. Furthermore, the implementation of Horizon 2020 will be on his agenda. In this context he intends to work further on simplification and on attracting newcomers to the programme. As a third priority, he pointed out the importance of freedom of frontier research and of strengthening the European Research Council.TOP
